Pet owners preferred – online dating survey reveals UK singles look for partners with pets
A lot of research has been carried out into the health benefits of owning a pet and how dogs can help people socialise. Now we have learned something else. UK singles look for partners with pets. This is just one of the results of a survey which received responses from 3,000 singles in the UK. The survey was hosted on the Jaumo dating app (jaumo.com).
Berlin and London, 7 December 2017 – Do furry and feathery friends get in the way of dating success? That’s what Jaumo wanted to find out, and UK singles had a clear message: they would quite like it if their new partner had a pet.
The survey was carried out over four weeks between October and November 2017. Jaumo app users were given the choice to answer the survey questions with yes or no and the results are recorded in our survey table.
Pets make men and women more attractive
Two thirds of UK singles said that they would quite like to find a partner with pets. And what was particularly interesting was that women and men seem to think along the same lines. A total of 64% of men and 70% of women said yes to pets.
One in three singles look for same-diet partner
While the majority of men and women say that their new partner’s diet is not important to them, over a third of both men and women are after a partner with the same dietary requirements. It probably is a little off-putting for a vegetarian or vegan to see their partner munch on a lamb chop, and it can be hassle when you always have to find different meals.
Sporty is top
Most UK singles seem to lead an active lifestyle, so sporty partners are what the majority of men and women want. Finding someone who is sporty is even more important to women than men, with 54% of women and 51% of men looking for someone who is into sports.
Holidays do not always have to be with the partner
Singles like to travel with their pet or friends, and not always with their partner. When asked, whether a holiday without their partner is ok for them, 51% of men and 57% of women said yes.
Jaumo co-founder Jens Kammerer said:
“Pets give people something to have a casual chat about. Maybe our singles also think about a romantic dog walk on the beach. Whatever the reason, UK singles seem to really like partners with pets.”
