Data analysis: this is what men and women really think about love and relationships

The vast majority of single men and women believe in love. However, the majority of men and nearly half of all the women recently surveyed could also picture themselves in a ‘friends with benefits’ relationship. What tends to put off women looking for a new relationship are dialects and the wrong body height. These are just some of the results of a survey of 10,000 singles in the UK who have downloaded the Jaumo dating app (jaumo.com). The survey has revealed many interesting differences between men and women when it comes to love and relationships, but also a lot of similarities.

Berlin and London, 20 November 2017 – So, how different are men and women really when it comes to love and relationships? Jaumo’s survey sheds some light on preferences and differences in expectations. Visit the survey results page to see all the detail. The survey was carried out over four weeks between October and November 2017. Jaumo app users were given the choice to answer the survey questions with yes or no and could choose how many of the questions they wanted to answer.

Cockney, Scottish or Mancunian?
The majority of men find dialects quite attractive, while women find them less sexy. However, there’s no need to lose your dialect because enough men (53%) and women (47%) are turned on by partners with a bit of a dialect. It might even be something to chat about before actually talking to someone over the telephone or in person to see whether you think the same way about showing off your regional identity.

“You’re too short!”
Indeed, it is quite likely that a woman thinks that way. Jaumo asked UK singles, is your partner’s height important to you? Quite a few women (58%) said yes, while only 45% of men were bothered by height. However, 45% is still a lot, so clearly a partner’s height is high on their agenda as well.

We’re all quite happy not to commit
Two in three men said yes, they would quite like a ‘friends with benefits’ relationship without committing to a new partner. That’s a staggering 66% of those surveyed! While women look more for a commitment than men, the number of women who would be happy with an erotic relationship is still high too. Almost half of the women asked by Jaumo said they would fancy a ‘friends with benefits’ relationship.

Jaumo co-founder Jens Kammerer said:
“What this survey shows is that while looks are important to a lot of singles, beyond appearance there are many factors that men and women consider when they’re searching for a new partner. And, what’s interesting, the new partner doesn’t necessarily need to be the partner for life.”
