Auf einen Blick
The Chilean company YERKA Bikes opens Market in all the European region by launching a new generation of their “anti-theft bicycle” thanks to its security technology
- Innovation: first bicycle in the market with an integrated lock in its structure
- Security: patented technology designed to optimally protect the bicycle from possible theft
- YERKA Bikes: available since May 2018 in their online shop
Berlin, July 3, 2018 – YERKA Bikes (www.yerkabikes.com) -with headquarter in Chile, stores in Spain & Germany and online shop for the entire European region- launches an improved new generation of the first worldwide anti-theft bicycle. With the aim of integrating an innovative safety system directly into the vehicle, the company has developed the only patented technology that optimally protects bicycles.
YERKA Bikes are the first bicycles in the world market with a padlock integrated in the same structure. In just a few seconds the frame and the seat post become an hermetic lock adaptable to any structure. The technology is so effective that the model does not need a separate U-Lock to be safe from thieves. Furthermore, the wheels provide additional security thanks to their anti-theft nuts, which use a unique pattern. In other words, to steal a YERKA bicycle, the structure must be so damaged that the bicycle can not be used and loses its commercial value.
YERKA Bikes aims to offer the best solution urban commuters around the globe. What began as a university project six years ago, as a result of the eagerness of three engineering students to protect not only their hobby, cycling, but also their daily means of transport, today has become the latest technology for bike safety. Or as Andrés Roi, one of the three Founders of Yerka Bikes explains, is “the only technology adapted to the real needs of urban cyclists, as it prioritizes those elements that really influence the experience of mobility in the city”.
Foundation of the company
The idea of a theft-proof bicycle arose when the engineering student Andrés Roi was victim of theft of his bike for the 2nd time. With two of his former classmates, they began designing a solution to counter the theft of them. Finally, in 2012, Cristóbal Cabello, Andrés Roi and Juan José Monsalve founded YERKA Bikes as part of a project at the Adolfo Ibáñez University in Chile. After a successful crowdfunding campaign in 2015, virilizing its innovation on the internet and having sold over 1,000 bicycles around the world to date without verified cases of theft, the initiative has become an internationally patented technology. Since May 2018, the YERKA Bikes can be ordered through its own online store (www.yerkabikes.com) or purchased in stores in Madrid and Hamburg. The new optimized generation brings anti-theft nuts and is available in four sizes, three colors and two different speeds.
The Chilean company YERKA Bikes (www.yerkabikes.com) is the manufacturer of the first and only bicycle anti-theft lock in the world. The YERKA Bikes were designed by three young engineers with the aim of integrating an innovative safety system directly on the bicycle. In just a few seconds, the frame and seat post can be turned into a lock, which can only be opened with a custom key. The bicycle is optimally protected against theft thanks to the patented technology, since it can not be used once the lock has been destroyed. YERKA Bikes was founded in 2013 by three Chileans of German origin: Cristóbal Cabello, Andrés Roi and Juan José Monsalve.
